The honey supers were added June 20, 2022. These bees look good and they built up both hive boxes below with brood and honey. Let’s all pray they fill up the honey supers and then survive the winter.
Honey supers are part of the beehive, and used to collect honey.
A honey super consists of a box in which 8–10 frames are hung for bees to collect nectar and store in a honeycomb. Once the honeycombs are full, bees reduce the moisture content and cap the comb with beeswax.
That’s when we take the full supers and extract honey for your enjoyment.
