Autumn Harvest Orchard was procured in 2000 and slowly evolved from an abandoned pasture to an apple orchard in 2006. Eventually chestnut trees and blueberries plantswere added to the orchard and later beehives were installed to aid in the pollinationprocess. At Autumn Harvest Orchard, LLC we are committed to producing good tasting healthy natural fruit, berries and vegetables to our consumers.
Autumn Harvest Orchard, LLC is a Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) orchard, vegetable farm and apiary. We comply with all USDA rules for naturally grown agriculture. This means that we use farming practices that promote healthy soils, reduce pests and protect our environment. Our goal is to produce the highest quality, freshest, local, naturally grown produce for local residents in western Connecticut.
As farmers we are committed to sustainable farming practices and to leave the land in a better state than what we found it in. Not only are we good stewards of the land we work in harmony with nature and wildlife. We are proud to be members of the Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC), CT Beekeeper’s Association; and the CT Pomological Society.
The land continues to be cultivated and improved every year. We attend Farmers’ Markets, sell to numerous restaurants, markets and school and have growing Community Support Agriculture (CSA).
Norfolk was first settled in 1744 and incorporated in 1758, later than most surrounding towns because of the dense woods, rocky soil and high elevation. Originally a farming community, nineteenth-century Norfolk saw the rise of numerous small factories, many of which fabricated tools and farming implements from local iron ore, and mills, which took advantage of fast-flowing mountain streams. – Wikipedia
