This is the peak season of the golden rod flower and the rush to collect the rich nectar and pollen for honeybee brood production and winter honey reserves.
It also means the summer is over and fall is near.
I was in the apiary earlier in the week and you can smell the goldenrod nectar in the hives.
Goldenrod is what gives the honey the rich golden color and unique rich flavor.
