We have some exciting news growing down at the farm! This week, we are officially launching our Certified Organic Oyster Mushrooms. If you’ve only ever cooked with standard button or cremini mushrooms, you are in for a wonderful culinary treat.

Oyster mushrooms get their name from their striking resemblance to physical oysters, featuring wide, velvety caps and delicate ridges. But beyond their beautiful appearance, they are celebrated by chefs and home cooks alike for their tender texture and capability to absorb incredible flavors.

Why We Love Growing Them

Mushrooms are nature’s ultimate recyclers. We grow our oyster mushrooms indoors under carefully monitored temperature and humidity levels to mimic a perfect forest floor. By keeping our process completely organic, we ensure that you get the cleanest, most flavorful gourmet mushrooms possible.

3 Simple Ways to Cook Oyster Mushrooms This Week

1. Crispy Garlic & Herb Sauté (The Perfect Side)

  • Ingredients: Oyster mushrooms (torn into bite-sized strips), 2 tbsp butter or olive oil, 2 minced garlic cloves, fresh thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • How to do it: Heat your pan over medium-high heat before adding the fat. Add the mushrooms in a single layer. Let them brown without moving them for 2-3 minutes to get a beautiful sear. Toss in the garlic, butter, and thyme, sauté for another 2 minutes, and season to taste.

2. Sesame Ginger Stir-Fry (Quick Weeknight Dinner)

  • Ingredients: Oyster mushrooms, your favorite snap peas or broccoli, soy sauce (or tamari), grated fresh ginger, a splash of sesame oil, and green onions.
  • How to do it: Toss the mushrooms and vegetables into a screaming-hot skillet or wok with a neutral oil. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes. Pour in the ginger and soy sauce during the last minute of cooking. Top with sesame oil and green onions over a bed of rice.

3. Gourmet Mushroom Toast (An Elegant Brunch)

  • Ingredients: Thick slices of sourdough bread, sautéed oyster mushrooms, a smear of goat cheese or ricotta, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
  • How to do it: Toast your bread and spread a thick layer of cheese. Top generously with warm, sautéed mushrooms and drizzle with a touch of sweet balsamic glaze.
